TSS Visa Skill Assessment Requirements

Certain primary TSS visa applicants must undergo a mandatory skills assessment as part of the TSS visa subclass 482 application procedure. If your occupation or passport country is listed in the table below, you must have a positive skill assessment for the TSS visa. Check to see if you require a mandatory skills assessment or if you are exempt.

Exemption from a mandatory skills assessment

You might be eligible to claim an exemption if you meet one of the following exemption criteria:

Exemption 1

  • If you are the main applicant for the subclass 482 visa and have a subclass 457 or subclass 482 visa, you are currently in Australia and have been working for your sponsor, who has nominated you for the relevant occupation.
  • If you are the main applicant for the subclass 482 visa and you are an employee of an overseas company that has standard business sponsor approval, they may have nominated you to work for their Australian branch under the approved nomination.

Exemption 2

  • If you are the main applicant for the subclass 482 visa and have relevant qualifications for one of the ANZSCO occupation: specialist managers, program or project administrator, and you have been nominated by an Accredited Sponsor with the annual salary of at least AUD 180,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take my English language test after I've submitted my visa application?

No, because the English language test requirements must be met at the time of the subclass 482 visa application.
