Changes from TSS Subclass 482 to SID Subclass 482
On 7 December 2024, the Skills in Demand (SID) Visa Subclass 482 replaced the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Visa Subclass 482. The requirements that were in effect at the time of application will apply to all TSS nominations and visa applications submitted prior to the SID visa’s introduction.
This change aims to streamline the process for skilled workers seeking employment in Australia and addresses the ongoing skills shortages in various industries. Employers must ensure they are familiar with the new criteria so they can navigate the transition effectively.
How do the new Skills in Demand (SID) visa 482 rules apply?
All Temporary Skills Shortage nominations and visa applications submitted to the Department of Home Affairs prior to the introduction of the Skills in Demand Visa Subclass 482 will be processed based on the requirements that were applicable at the time of submission (the old rules).
If your employer has submitted a Temporary Skills Shortage nomination and you have not lodged your associated TSS visa application by 7 December 2024, the approved nomination will be regarded as a Skills in Demand Subclass 482 nomination. This will enable you to submit an associated application for a Skills in Demand visa (the new rules).
