Job description
Manages a health service unit or sub-unit of a hospital, aged care or community health care facility, supervises nursing staff and financial resources to enable the provision of safe, cost-effective nursing care within a specified field or for a particular unit, and monitors quality, clinical standards and professional development of nurses. Registration or licensing is required.

Tasks Include:
Highly relevant tasks include, but are not limited to:
- researching, planning, developing and implementing nursing curricula
- facilitating practical experience for general and specialist nurses
- evaluating ongoing and changing educational needs and monitoring course outcomes
- participating in developing and implementing policies affecting nursing, nurse education and health
- undertaking and promoting nursing and interdisciplinary research projects, and disseminating research information
- promoting utilisation of current research findings into clinical nursing practice and patient management
- promoting the implementation of research and research findings into organisation-wide functions such as safety, quality and risk management
- providing support and education for other nurses undertaking research
Qualification Requirement
The applicant must meet the current Australian nursing and midwifery educational standards.
- Graduation certificates from all tertiary nursing qualifications
- Transcripts of training which include details of theoretical and clinical hours completed during the course.
Work Experience Requirement
- Professional reference with a minimum of 3 months’ paid work experience (at least 494 hours)
English Language Requirement
All applicants must provide an English proficiency test report within three (2) years from the test date. ANMAC will only accept one (1) of the following English language test reports:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test
- at least 7.0 for each components listening, reading, writing, and speaking, OR
- a maximum of two test sittings, in a six-month period only if the applicant achieves: a minimum overall score of 7 in each sitting AND no score in any component of the test is below 6.5.
- Occupational English Test (OET)
- At least a B grade for each components listening, reading, writing, and speaking, OR
- a maximum of two test sittings, in a six-month period only if the applicant achieves: is tested in all four components in each sitting, AND no score in any component of the test is below C.
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)
- Applicants must achieve a minimum overall score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking, OR
- a maximum of two test sittings, in a six-month period only if the applicant achieves: a minimum overall score of 65 in each sitting AND no score in any of the four communicative skills is below 58.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- Applicants must achieve a minimum total score of 94 and the following minimum score in each section of the test - 24 listening, 24 reading, 27 writing, 23 speaking, OR
- a minimum total score of 94 in each sitting AND no score in any of the sections is below - 20 listening, 19 reading, 24 writing, 20 speaking.

- Proof of identity, including a national ID or driver’s license
- qualification certificate and academic transcript.
- employment evidence, including an employment letter, payslips, tax return and superannuation.
Processing Times
According to ANMAC, the current processing time for skill assessment is 12 weeks from the date of submission.
Application Fee
When the application is submitted, payment must be made directly to the assessing authority. Fees for skill assessment applications as of July 1, 2023
