3. Assessment Process:

VETASSESS evaluates the submitted application to ascertain whether the applicant’s qualifications and experience meet the requirements for the selected ANZSCO occupation.

• For professional occupations, the assessment centers on comparing qualifications to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and evaluating both the relevance of the qualifications and the skill level of the applicant’s employment experience.  
• For trade occupations, VETASSESS evaluates skills, knowledge, and experience against Australian standards specific to the trade occupation with a technical interview. Additionally, some licensed trade occupations will require further practical assessments.  

4. The Outcome

VETASSESS will issue a Skills Assessment Result Letter indicating the outcome of the assessment, whether it is positive or not.

• A positive skills assessment outcome indicates that the applicant has the requisite skills and qualifications to meet the standards of the nominated occupation.
• A negative skills assessment outcome indicates that the applicant’s qualifications or work experience do not satisfy the criteria. The applicant may also receive advice on options for reassessment or review.  

If a reassessment is advised, the applicant may submit updated or additional documents in response to the feedback given.
