Job Duties
Highly relevant tasks include, but are not limited to:
- » Assisting Construction Managers in planning and organisation of on-site activities
- » Acting as the main site supervisor/site foreman for a construction site
- » Interpreting plans, regulations and codes of practice
- » Coordinating works programs
- » Organising and coordinating trade disciplines, human resources and materials
- » Monitoring construction timelines, costs and quality
- » Regular reporting of progress of construction works
- » Inspecting work and materials for compliance with specifications, regulations and standards.
Employment information
In order to be considered as a Building Associate, the position must be involved in coordinating technical aspects within the construction phase of a building project. The position should involve a high degree of site specific supervision of key technical roles or labour on site, supporting and maintaining budgetary controls, planning restrictions, coordination of services on site, ensuring timely delivery of materials and plant equipment as well as reporting to senior staff such as Project Managers or Civil Engineers.
Qualification
Skills Assessment of the qualification involves assessment of both the qualification level and content. Qualifications are assessed according to the guidelines published by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training.
This occupation requires a qualification assessed as comparable to the education level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma or higher, and in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation.

Skills Assessment Criteria:
Please note in order to achieve a successful skills assessment outcome, a positive assessment for both qualifications and employment is required. Applicants can fulfil the assessment criteria for this occupation in four different ways.
- Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level with a highly relevant field of study and
- at least one year of post qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years;
OR
- Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level with an additional qualification at least AQF Certificate IV in a highly relevant field of study and
- at least one year of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years;
OR
- Qualification(s) assessed at least AQF Diploma level without a highly relevant field of study and
- at least two years of post-qualification highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years;
OR Pre-qualification
- if all of your employment is before your qualification assessed at the AQF diploma level
- three years of highly relevant employment in addition to at least one year of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level in the last five years.

What will I get after the assessment?
When your application for a skills assessment is done, the assessing authority will send you an email with a soft copy of the skills assessment outcome letter.
The letter should contain the required skill level outcome, whether your qualification is assessed as comparable to the education level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) or not. Furthermore, it outlines the employment period that you have claimed and whether the evidence that you provided is met or not. If you meet both the qualifications and employment criteria for the skill assessment, you will get a positive result. If you don't, you will get an unsuccessful result.
