If you are a Floor Finisher wanting to migrate to Australia through the skilled migration visa 491, visa 190, or visa 494, you must complete the compulsory skill assessment. This is one of the most important requirements for your visa application.
Job description
Measures, cuts, installs and repairs carpet, timber, vinyl, resilient resin and concrete floor coverings.

Tasks Include:
- measuring areas to be covered and consulting plans to estimate quantities of floor covering materials required
- preparing surfaces for covering and removing baseboard trims
- measuring, cutting and fixing underlay materials
- laying coverings, such as carpets, linoleum, parquetry blocks, cork tiles and other resilient flooring materials, over floors, matching patterns, cutting shapes around fixtures and trimming edges
- securing floor coverings and fitting edge trims in doorways
- sanding, staining and applying finishing coatings to timber floors
- mixing and applying resin flooring systems
- may polish concrete floors
- may install wall, ceiling, counter and bench coverings

Qualifications

- a full academic transcript or other documents that include the start and end date of your training and details of the program of study.
- apprenticeship documents such as the contract of apprenticeship, journal or any other relevant document from your employer, governing body or training institution relating to your apprenticeship (if applicable).
Employments Evidence Documents
You are required to demonstrate 3 years of full-time (as 38 hours per week) or equivalent part-time paid employment. This employment must be directly relevant to your nominated occupation and can be completed before, during or after your comparable qualification.

Processing Time
Migration Skills Assessment applications are generally finalised within 120 days from the date you submit and pay for the application to Trades Recognition Australia. The time it takes to complete it is determined by how quickly Trades Recognition Australia receives all relevant documents and any additional information from you. Making sure you've provided all of the relevant papers in the proper format will help reduce the amount of time it takes to process them.
What will I get after the assessment?
When your application for a skills assessment is complete, Trades Recognition Australia, the assessing authority will provide a migration skills assessment outcome letter. You will need this letter to apply for your visa.
