MELBOURNE IS GRADE 3 IN THE WORLD IS THE BEST CITY FOR STUDENTS. The 2018 QS Best Student Cities Ranking honors 100 ideal cities for international students around the world, based on 6 criteria: university rankings, percentage of students in the city, level of revenue aspirations, the likelihood of finding a job after graduation, the cost of living, and how students feel. The survey was conducted on 54,000 students from 180 different countries, ranking Melbourne in 3rd place, behind London and Tokyo. Another Australian city, Sydney, is ranked 9th, up 4 places from last year. Known as Australia’s cultural capital, Melbourne regularly ranks at the top of the list of the most livable cities in the world, with many attractive tourist attractions, beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and Cultural events take place all year round, from art, music, film, fashion and multi-ethnic festivals. “Melbourne is very diverse and friendly to international students. Traveling around the city is easy, and there’s always an interesting event happening at any time of the year, ”one student said. The Victorian capital also leads in the proportion of international students and ranks third in student satisfaction. However, like many other cities in Australia, Melbourne has quite expensive tuition and living expenses compared to international standards. A high score for ‘wishes’, a category that includes student safety, reflects the investment the Andrews Labor Government has made in the well-being of international students. The Labor Government’s four-year International Student Welfare Program has funded more than 45 projects dedicated to student happiness, experience, integration and safety since 2016. Victoria’s international education area is growing – more than 200,000 students from over 170 countries have come here to study and experience everything Victoria has to offer.
