The Australian federal government has announced it will consider exempting international based students can return to Australia Universities as early as July. The Prime Minister Scott Morrison said it would only be done if strict quarantine restrictions were met.
On 16 June, both the Australian Capital Territory and South Australia states was announced are launching pilot programs that will allow international students to return to these areas.
South Australia plans to admit 800 international students in July under a pilot program, so students can return to the state’s three universities – The University of Adelaide, The University of South Australia and Flinders University.
The ACT has announced plans for roughly 350 students from the Australian National University (ANU) and the University of Canberra (UC) would be flown into Canberra Airport on a specially chartered flight could be arrive in late July. Both the ANU and UC universities are working to a tight deadline and keen to have international students back on campus for the start of the second semester in August.
What should International student currently outside Australia do?
The best way is to maintain an open communication with your education provider in Australia and your education provider should be in update with you directly to inform you of when campuses are open and when classes will return to face-to-face learning, so keep an eye on your school emails.
