The main purpose of a skills assessment for the Subclass 485 Temporary Graduate visa, specifically under the Post-Vocational Education Work stream, is to confirm that your Australian qualifications correspond with an occupation listed on the Medium to Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
To be eligible for a provisional skills assessment, applicants must hold qualifications from a registered training organization (RTO). This study must have been conducted in Australia, and the RTO must be accredited by the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) to deliver the training.

ToggleWhat is post vocational education work stream visa 485?
International students who have recently graduated with an associate degree, diploma, or trade qualification relevant to their two years of study in Australia and intend to apply for a subclass 485 Temporary Graduate visa under the Post-Vocational Education Work stream will need to complete a provisional skills assessment.
The Post-Vocational Education Workstream is designed to leverage the skills of graduates from vocational education programs to address Australia’s skills shortages on temporary graduate visas and potentially lead to permanent residency pathways.
Mandatory skills assessment post vocational education work stream
All applicants for the subclass 485 visa under the Post-Vocational Education Work stream must provide evidence of a positive skills assessment outcome or proof of having applied to a relevant assessing authority for an assessment of their skills in the nominated occupation listed on the Medium to Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) at the time of application.
Proof of having applied to a relevant assessing authority may include an acknowledgement letter from that authority, along with a reference number for the skills assessment included on the visa application form. However, failing to secure a positive skills assessment outcome may lead to visa refusal.
The ANSCO occupations list is applicable to the subclass 485 visa.
The Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) includes 212 occupations classified under ANZSCO and is applicable to the Subclass 485 (Temporary Graduate) Visa.
